WELCOME TO HATE OUT OF WINSTON
Hate Out of Winston is a group of ragtag radicals focused on social justice. We are dedicated to fighting injustices through grassroots activism, policy reform, service projects, direct protest and upcoming lobbying. Sister Miranda Jones, our leader, is a veteran educator and activist who is known in the Triad area for her work in the local school system, grant writing, and occasional collaboration with many other grassroots groups committed to justice. Currently, Hate Out is demanding that the city of Winston-Salem allocate and increase funds for SOAR (Successful Outcomes After Release) and YouthBuild as well as establish alternative forms of policing through the creation of a mental health mobile unit using the police diversion model. Recently, Hate Out has advocated a group of Black firefighters in the WSFD that have been facing pervasive racism and harassment. With the help of the community, we helped bring down a 100+ year old Confederate statue and supported many others in their causes such as working towards trying to get the local school system to create a mandatory African-American Studies class and much more. Our long range goals include replacing North Carolina’s Stand Your Ground laws, establishing Limited Qualified Immunity, creation of a local police database to track egregious and racist behaviors committed by law enforcement, reallocation of law enforcement funds to preventative measures and racial justice.
OUR MISSION!
promoting solidarity and diversity
Hate Out of Winston’s mission is to be a consistent voice for justice and to dismantle patterns of racism and injustice in the Winston-Salem community. Hate Out envisions a Winston-Salem where Black people and all marginalized and oppressed people live, work, and thrive in a Twin City that is racially equitable, liberating, and empowering...
JUSTICE FOR ALL!
JUSTICE FOR ONE IS NOT JUSTICE FOR ALL
The Constitution of the United States was designed and meticulously crafted to protect ALL citizens. The interpretation, accountability, and consistency of protection under the law, however, has become quite convoluted. We, at Hate Out stand in solidarity for justice for minorities that have been unjustly mistreated for far, far too long...
REALLOCATION NOW!
REALLOCATE $78 MILLION POLICE FUNDING
Hate Out of Winston is committed to pursuing programs that are proven to increase access and improve outcomes for members of Winston-Salem's Black Community. As a result, we are determined for City Council to increase funding for 2 pre-existing programs with mostly Black participants: Successful Outcomes After Release (SOAR) and YouthBuild...
